What Is the Purpose of this Targeted Dark Spot Corrector?

REVERSE Targeted Dark Spot Corrector is a do-it-yourself option to visiting a dermatologist for intractable dark spots caused by ageing, acne, sun exposure, or hormone imbalance. As a result, the product will be available in early 2021.

In Complete transparency, I bought the Reverse Regimen with Targeted Dark Spot Corrector.

The groundbreaking treatment is designed to precisely target specific areas of discolouration, resulting in a much more uniform skin tone over the entire face. This dark spot treatment evens out skin tone while also protecting it from environmental ageing.

In March, I turned 59 years old and have skin that has been subjected to harsh Australian summers. I began with the R+F Soothe programme in 2017, then moved on to the Reverse Regimen in 2018. ( Using the Ramp up method). Then, in late 2019, I switched to the Redefined during the Australian summer, alternating between these three regimens. This is my Dark Spot Corrector Review.

What are Dark Spots?

Dark spots are caused by hormonal changes, sun exposure, and a variety of environmental factors. Some of these skin changes are often temporary and won’t be permanent. How do you correct all dark spots?

Some OTC (Over counter) products can correct them and help to even out skin tone to achieve a natural, even appearance.

Dark spots on the skin are often caused by Hyperpigmentation, which occurs when the skin in that area produces an excess of melanin. This usually happens when your skin has been exposed to UVA or UVB rays. Most dark spots can be removed with over-the-counter treatments, but there may be times when you need to seek medical attention.

Dark Spots on Your Face: What Causes Them?

  • Hyperpigmentation is a condition in which skin’s pigmentation darkens when the skin in a specific area is damaged. Causing your skin to create an excess of melanin, hence causing a specific skin region to appear darker.
  • Imbalances in the Hormones Hormonal imbalances, such as those associated with pregnancy, might cause your skin cells to over-pigment.
  • Excessive exposure to the sun causes your skin to produce more melanin to defend itself from UV radiation.
  • Skin problems. People are also more likely to develop dark spots on their skin as they age, as our skin does not multiply as quickly, making it more challenging for our skin to eradicate these damaged regions.
  • Damage to our liver. Skin spots are also a classic marker of liver disease since the body is less adept at eliminating toxins from the cells.
  • Scars from Acne and scars can frequently leave dark areas on the skin that take longer to dissipate.

What Caused My Dark Spots?

You know those brown dots on your cheeks, hands, and chest that aren’t freckles? You know the ones I’m talking about. It’s called Hyperpigmentation, often known as liver spots or age spots, and it’s so widespread among Australian women that it’s almost strange not to have it. What I have on my face are dark spots caused by Hyperpigmentation and excess melanin on my cheeks and nose.

  • Sun Damage – As a young child growing up in Australia, Sun Damage did not shield me from the sun, which resulted in the dark patches.
  • Hormonal changes – brought on by several factors, including menopause, mixed with spending long periods

My goal for the previous four years has been to reduce the dark spots with the Rodan and Fields Reverse Regimen and have a more balanced and, most importantly, healthier complexion.

Before I used the Targeted Dark Spot Corrector, I began using Micro-Needling at a Spa every 6 weeks. The salon owner is an MD in Indonesia and a Rodan and Fields consultant, and she treated me for the stubborn marks on my cheeks. I had three Micro-needling treatments. The first was in late Oct 2020, one just before Christmas, and one in February 2021, along with LED therapy after each needling session.

Why is Dark Spots Unwanted?

Resulting from a local and benign (non-cancerous) increase of melanocytes, the pigment-producing cells present at the intersection of our epidermis (upper layer of skin) and dermis (inner layer),

Melanocytes are essentially what causes a suntan, which the newer generations no longer do since they know better and want to avoid Hyperpigmentation or dark spots.

These cells lack stem cells and have cellular arms that protrude into the skin. These arms are highly delicate and prone to harm. When they are injured, the arms ‘leak’ melanin in large regions rather than evenly across the skin.

Another reason to avoid spending time in the sun?

That’s correct!

Most sunspots and patches of Hyperpigmentation you see are probably from about 20 years ago (the time it takes for sun damage to develop into brown spots). So these spots would have started for me when I was in my 30s.

Any present UV exposure is simply luring these babies out when we reach our 40s and 50s!

New statistics show that as many as 30% of adult women and 25% of men experience skin discolouration in some form. The statistics also show that while this figure is significantly higher for females, males also suffer from discolouration, yet more of it in areas exposed to the sun.

This is in part because darker skin absorbs more UV radiation than lighter skin. The result of this is visible dark spots, freckles, and even dark patches.

The Importance of Preventative Measures

Things to do while in the sun to take care of your skin!

It’s important to remember that it’s not simply sunbathing that puts you at risk, as does going out in the sun without sufficient protection. If you routinely engage in outdoor hobbies or sports, those of us who enjoy working in the garden may be at increased risk. Ensure that you follow all of the Five S’s of Sun Safety and NEVER BURN!

Step 1: Wearing sun-safe clothing.

  • Clothing can be one of the most efficient sun-protection barriers.
  • Wear clothing that covers as much skin as possible, and keep your shoulders covered ( they can easily burn)
  • Fabrics with a tighter weave will provide more protection.
  • A cloth provides the best protection with a high UPF rating.

Step 2: Sun Protection Understanding

  • No sunscreen provides total protection.
  • Never rely solely on sunscreen to protect your skin.
  • Always apply sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 or higher, preferably a water-resistant one. Applying always a generous amount to clean, dry skin that will be exposed from the back of the hands, neck, lips, ears, and so on.
  • Reapply, reapply, reapply, reapply, reapply, reapply, reapply, reapply Apply 20 minutes before heading outside, and preferably again when you’re outside.
  • Check that it has a UVA sign and a broad spectrum (if it has a star rating, use a minimum 4 star)
  • Store in a convenient, cool location, and remember to check the expiry date.
  • Regardless of the directions, all sunscreens should be reapplied every 2 hours, and more frequently if perspiring or swimming.
  • A Lip balm with SPF 30+ should be used to protect your lips.

Step 3: Wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.

  • Wearing a hat with a wide brim to protect your face, neck, and ears always.
  • The most effective hats are legionnaire (with a flap that protects the neck and links the front peak) or bucket-style (with a least 7.5cm brim).
  • A close weave or UPF-rated cloth will offer more protection.
  • Baseball caps do not provide adequate shade for the ears and neck, which can quickly burn.
  • Because UV radiation from the sun can be harmful to the eyes, it is critical to wear quality sunglasses.
  • The lens quality and overall design determine overall eye protection.
  • Look for the European CE seal, which denotes a high degree of safety.
  • Those with a high EPF (which ranges from 1 to 10) will provide the best protection.
  • Ensure that they are tightly fitted and wrap around to prevent solar UVR from entering the sides and top.
  • Remember that the price and darkness of the lens have no bearing on the level of protection.

STEP 4: Spend time in a shaded area whenever possible.

  • Shade can act as an effective barrier between our skin and the sun.
  • Seek shade whenever possible, especially between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., when UV penetration is at its peak.
  • Always keep toddlers and babies in the shade.
  • Never rely just on shade; always combine it with personal protection measures.

Key Takeaway's - Rodan and Fields Targeted Dark Spot Corrector Review: Does it Work?

As previously stated, I have now completed one cycle of the dark spot corrector using the reverse Regimen. I’ve noticed a noticeable reduction in sun damage to my cheeks and nose. The discoloured area resembles my overall skin tone on my forehead, chin, and really appealing neck.

As we approach winter in Australia, I’ve begun my second cycle of dark spot corrector and am excited to observe skin tone improvements and discolouration improvements. The cost of $80 for an 8-week treatment is significantly less than the 1.5-hour microneedling session. To supplement my in-spa treatment, I utilise a specialised Dark Spot Corrector.

Rodan+Fields Dark Spot Corrector Cream is packaged in a 15ML tube with a nozzle applicator. It’s a white tube with a see-through plastic cover. The connector for the nozzle applicator to the tube has a gleaming gold accent.

It’s an unscented cream that’s a little thicker. Because it is a little thicker, it does not soak as quickly into the skin. Therefore I always wait for a little before adding the Reverser Am or PM moisturiser. It starts off a creamy colour and gradually becomes clear as you work it in. A small drop of product goes a long way. This 15ML tube should last 2 months.

Because this was my first time utilising a dark spot corrector, I had no idea what a ‘dark spot’ was. I also learned that it could assist with pimple-related skin discolouration.

I opted to concentrate on a few visible regions on my cheeks and nose

In the first week, I did not decern much difference. However, after applying it every morning and night, I noticed it performing. It was a slow and subtle alteration, but you could detect it even if you weren’t looking closely.

So far, I’m pleased with the outcomes, but I’m eager to see if I’ll get the intended effect.

4 weeks later:

• 77% had fewer noticeable dark spots

• 69 per cent of the people exhibited brighter dark areas.

• 61% had less pronounced dark spots

• 72% did not believe that their black patches were the first thing people noticed about them.

Clinical and consumer study results for the REVERSE Regimen PLUS Targeted Dark Spot Corrector**

8 Weeks Later:

• 100 per cent improved in visible dark/brown spots

• 100 per cent improved in visible dark/brown spots

• 86 per cent agreed stubborn dark/brown spots/patches are less intense

• 75 per cent agreed obstinate dark/brown spots/patches look smaller, less defined

**Based on an 8-week clinical and consumer trial conducted in the United States. The following factors may influence the outcome: age, gender, skin type and condition, concurrent items used, health history, location, lifestyle, and diet.

Will the Reverse Targeted Dark Spot Corrector eliminate my appearance of dark spots and patches forever?

It is critical to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen and restrict sun exposure using the REVERSE Targeted Dark Spot Corrector. After using the REVERSE Targeted Dark Spot Corrector and achieving the desired results, you should be able to visibly reduce the appearance of your dark spots and preserve your results if you are extremely vigilant about applying wide-spectrum sunscreen and minimising your sun exposure.

Understanding, however, that a single day of unprotected sun exposure can effectively destroy months of hard work. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day and reapply it every two hours if you are in the sun.
